Re: Do yow wear an Avalanche Air Bag in the Mountains

What I like about the ABS is all the capacity options you have. I recently moved up to the 15L so I can take what I need in the mountains. First aid kit, rope, sat phone, gps, and all the rest. Today's sleds have squat for storage and I prefer to have what I need on my back just in case you ever get separated from your sled. Like many have said, hopefully you don't need the majority of the items you take in with you....but when you do, and I have, they sure are good to have!

I wear a Snowpulse, my daughter wears a BCA, my son wears an ABS. The Snowpulse & BCA get test fired at the beginning of each season. I refill them myself from a scuba tank. The ABS.....well.....I'm bettin' he hasn't test fired it since the first time when he bought it, probably because it's a little tougher for him to get a replacement cylinder and trigger right away. That's the one thing that steered me to the other 2 packs. Human nature being what it is, most people tend to take the easy way out. Unfortunately "I'll get around to it" doesn't really work well combined with safety.

That reminds me....gotta have a chat with that boy about his pack! :D

2 snow pulses hang in the trailer. 1 for me and 1 for whoever needs one in group. I like to offer it anyways.

ABS for the last 6 years, but borrowed my brothers snowpulse 22 i think it was, it has a little more weight to it but seemed comfy and had more room, might retire my ABS and do a switch unless convinced otherwise by feed back from you guys?????? Also like I said in the next post mine was still good after 4 years, has anyone had leaking issues with the snowpulse? A buddy pulled his out after the summer and it was MT.

The canister should have a weight on it unless it has faded off like mine did, but as long as that weight is maintained the canister should be good from my understanding. Blew mine this year by accident after 4 years and worked perfect.

Your a little kid Rick take your ball and go home 67 % have em you might want to consider one. Pretty sure it would have got a pile of likes. If ya got the balls have a connector in Edmonton international on the 15th and I will be out front for a smoke break. I'll be wearing the Sturgis 2011 hat. Better yet delete me bashing you and put the post back up that would at least show me you have some integrity. I wear the Snow Pulse due to the fact it also puts you in a C spine position.:D Glad my post motivated you to put up the stats at least I accomplished some good by rattling your chain.

I wear a ABS 30 litre airbag, for me it is just another tool that I own to give myself a little bit better of a chance of surviving a avalanche.I bought mine from a helisking outfit that sells threirs off at the end of every season, cost me 350.00 and a new canistor at the begining of every season when I pull the trigger to make sure it is working.
Thats one of the most affordable tools that I carry.....but to each their own eh!

i ride with a snowpulse, my personnal choice. it is a tool like the beacon, probe, avi training. any and all snow slopes over 20-25 degrees will slide given the right circumstances, and if it does and your in it you better start praying if you have the gear or not. i like to at least increase my odds.
