dont put it on any sleds. and i dont find it throws and more than a machine with a flap. never overheated either. my cousin does on his rev on the trail once in a blue moon. it sure is nice when you get stuck and dont have to beat the flap out of the way

cut it off on that crease line just below THE WAY OUT symbol. I cut mine off there and it doesnt get caught but still helps the back of my neck from getting frosted. :d  cheers

mine used to get stuck in the track :0 the solution is to cut it in half.

Ripped mine off in Trout lake (by accident). Following me was dangerous, chunks of hard snow flying everywhere.
I'm a believer in a snow flap.
Every now and then I pull it into the shop for a night and hook onto the flap and pull it up towards the rear bumper to make it stick out more, less chance of it getting in the track.

Did the exact same thing to my 2003 vert escape. Looks better too.

On my 08 XP I had a trimmed snow flap and when I put a Mountain Tamer and a non ported track on this summer I was overheating like crazy. I went to a long 07 style flap with an SLP LED tail light. It works great to keep the sled cool on the trail. When I get up top I pitch it with my gas can and ride for the day. I don't have a picture of it with it on but here's a picture with it off. As you can see I riveted a piece of aluminum to the tunnel to keep that long flap from catching in the track.

As far as the chunks of ice are concerned I think it has a lot more to do with the track than the snow flap!

Pick yourself up a nice length of black bungy cord or shock rope in 3/8 or 1/4 diameter. Attach one end to your bumper and drill a small 1/4 hole in the lower part of your snowflap and feed cord thru with enough tension so as to prevent the flap from flopping and tie a good knot. CR Racing and some other outfits sell a kit for this but you can try the same thing for next to nothing if you do some legwork. Higgins.

I don't know how ppl say they don't get ANYTHING thrown at them behind a sled with no snow flap... maybe they weren't on the gas ? I got stuck behind some A** in Mcbride on an M1 last yr and he had no snow flap on, and was riding right in the middle of the trail doing about 40km/hr, not looking back nothing... if you are going to ride with no snow flap at least have a little curtesy to ride on the side of the trail and look behind so those of us that aren't taking the scenic route up can get past you... period! even with a snow flap don't ride in the middle of the trail doing 40 the whole way up...

what he said ^^^ tried to catch a guy with no flap to tell him his sliders were melting on the hardpack, after he pelted with me ice chunks for 1/2 mile I said "Screw it", and just stayed behind him until his overtemp light came on and he pulled over to cool off, then he had to turn around and go back to the truck because he was running on the alum rails by that time.

Tried to catch another guy on the trail with no flap who lost his jerry can, couldn't hold his jerry can and ride and he didn't have a flap so I couldn't see to pass him (another one in the middle of the trail driving along on a Sunday drive) so I tossed it to the side of the trail at a junction where it was visible and he passed me about 2k's from the parking lot going the other way, guessing he was going back to get his jerry can that fell off somewhere....
