i recently put a slp single pipe kit on my stock '10 hcr. ive been told that i have to install a digitron as well as a boondocker controller. can anyone tell me some truth behind that?
I definatley would. It is benificial for you to see what kind egt's your sled is running so you get the most out of it. The controller goes goes hand in hand so you can fine tune the efi for max performance. you do have options on what you want though. Like I find it easier to use: Attidude box, Pure logic box. Than having to deal with the complicated boondocker box. I would keep it simple with the attidude-$420 ish. Then I would use the sleek Dual egt gauge in the Koso-$420 ish. this Is what I used with the same set up.. and now that I turbo'd it I still use the gauges! So like I said.. they go hand in hand. And trust me you will need a few little adjustments on the controller(usealluy have to lean it up) for sure. You want your temps to be close to the 1250 F as you can. I have mine to flash at 1290 F.
you can lean them out. It just isn't as complicated as the boodocker. wich in turn isnt as fine of an ajustment I guess. The attitude and pure logic basically simplified it into 3 modes which is bottom, middle and top end as compared to carbed engines. then the other modes is rpm and full throttle pull and such. I have played with the boondocker and it is tricky but if you put the time in you can adjust everything kinda like putting up a lap top to your car/truck like efi live. I know a few of us cat guys with mods had to put in fuel reg just to lean it up more and then got our #'s in the middle of the programmer so a person has some lee-way to play with.
