Full burial today on Dix lax mtn , a good sized slope on the way back to mt sir Alexander in kAkwa region. 1 St 2 riders made it over 3 Rd guy got caught was buried ended about 2 ft under. LAdy at the bottom watched him got to him really quick had his face out in under 10 mins. Pretty scarey , these folks are experienced with Avy course training. Been over this slope many times over it of years , first time I've ever seen this slope let go. Lucky.

Sounds like luck was only a part of it, I suspect their training more so is what saved that guys life. Good job though really! That's so awesome that this isn't a RIP thread instead.

The second rider was he the one that went up the middle and broke hill on third guy? Or travelling one at a time? Or is that just a crack in the snow higher then the slide starting? Glad he they are ok!

Looks like the tracks might be footprints...people walking down from the saddle to assist maybe?

Where was this at

Dix lax mountain is accessed from either the Alberta side in to Kakwa Lake, then carry on the old mine road out toward McBride about 8 kms then I believe west towards Mt Sir Alexander and Mt Ida, Ida is off limits now, or from Mcbride in past the BC sled club shack and in towards Kakwa. We gain access from Alberta side down a waterfall past Flattop mtn and the BC guys access thru a drainage further towards McBride, both routes meet up near the bottom of Dix lax. Very steep slope can be very challenging if snow is deep, but is the only access point to a large awesome riding area. Like I said, first time I've ever seen it slide there to any extent, little sloughs but nothing major.
