Talked to an employee today. They have been hacked for ransom. He was at the cardlock manually filling vehicles and taking their member numbers, card numbers and noting the type of fuel and quantity on a spreadsheet. He said they believe it was planned to happen before the long weekend to put maximum pressure on Co Op to cave in and pay. They had to get someone in to disconnect the automated system and make it manual. He looked flustered lol. Don’t blame him.

Does this have any correlation to the cardlocks that have started accepting cash payment like UFA stations? No idea just throwing it out there.

Hackers are pretty crazy, we had a gas plant near Valhalla that they took control of, even the manual ESD buttons had no control. IT got us out of it but it was 24 hrs or so..

Lacombe is down too. These hackers are huge problem. Meridian got hacked a couple years ago. Cost them a lot of money.

I believe it does. I used battleford and Emma lake cardlocks yesterday and you can also use a CC at those locations. My cardlock card worked, took a lot longer to turn the pump on than usual however.

Seems like dealership's, automanufacturos and related are targets of hackers more so over the last year. I know of 2 fuel suppliers, and several manufacturers that has major hacks last year

Service stations in Salmon Arm are open.
