Lots of people up here are getting the word out. I’ve put in my 2 cents for what it’s worth. Total bs to shut an area down to resident sledders so some asshat can profit off the area.
Great question. I was going to ask the same. When in Valemount at Chappell there is areas marked for helicopters Many areas that are open to snowmobiling are within the tenure of heliskiing. First come have use of the areas. If it's exclusive then that's not okAs someone not familiar with the area, could you give a quick rundown?
Are they applying for a regular tenure like most heli ops or some sort of exclusive use that would ban others similar to what MW tried?
What happened at Star Basin?
All regular heli, cat, touring tenures are open to public private use. Commercial use by others is what they restrict.Great question. I was going to ask the same. Heli-skiers draw a lot of water in this town. All regular heli, cat, touring tenures are open to public private use. Commercial use by others is what they restrict.
There are exceptions and it's now becoming a foot-in-the-door by some to attempt restricting private use. The screenshot suggests something like this happened at Star Basin.
It's really unfortunate that us private recreational users are at the bottom of the food chain when comes to public land use. Unfortunately sledders aren't good at lobbying for their cause.
