I was out yesterday on my 04 800 Summit Highmark Extreme and the engine suddenly came to a slow but sudden stop.
I couldn't turn the clutch over easily so I let it cool down and it turned over a bit and got better after I put some oil down cyclinders.
We started it up for a second to see if I could ride it out but there was a hell of a noise so we shut her down.
Today after ripping out the motor I found that the mag side rod bearing went so I need a new crank. There was also some piston damage and head damage but It looked like the cyclinder walls were ok, atleast not scared bad. Acid would prob clean them up.
What do you think I should do now? I know I need to get the crank done and some new pistons and the jugs cleaned up. What do you think this is going to cost me. I am using a friend to help me who is very knowledgable about these engines so I think we can rebuild it.
Where do we send the crank etc.

HELP!!!!

$hitty! I can't answer your question but I have the same sled. I'm just wondering how many kms on your sled when this happened? I have about 3300 kms on mine now and I've been thinkin I should do the top end just because. It still runs good and I don't ride very hard, but I've heard around 3000 it should be done. Good luck with your repair. Hope it isn't too bad.
