I bought the 2008 M8 I was dealin on and was wondering my dealer is outta APV oil.? He suggested Redline synthetic would work for now. Is it ok to be switchin oil brands? he told me to try run most of the APV oil out before puttin in the Redline, which worries me. Cause once he has some in i would switch back to the APV.

Also I was leanin toward a JAWS can? How would you guys rate these cans?

Thx everyone!

It really doesn't matter what oil you run in it. They will all mix and burn just fine. In fact, I wouldn't even bother with synthetics at all. Lots of engine guys run petroleum based oils and have better results that with synthetics. I switched my M7 from APV to old fashioned Cat Green. Works great, saves money.

Switch to Spectro full Syn-thetic Powervalve Formula. I have a MBRP can on my 2007 M8, sounds sweet real happy with it. Allso would suggest you get the upgraded Y-Pipe, will make your M8 alot crisper . You wouldnt need a boomdocker box.

It is always best to run the manufacturers own oil, having said that we sell yamaha and arctic cat oil and have a lot of customers that run the yamaha 2s oil in their new arctic cats, myself included, and at 28.95 for a 4 litre jug instead of 54.00 for the apv is attractive as well, we have never had any issues with the power valves gumming up and plugging with the yammy oil...

just my 2 bits

OH NO !!! Not another oil thread.......

Running out the APV as your dealer suggests is good advise... and just a precaution....you could draw it out with a suction gun if you have one..??

Modern oils are quite forgiving....everyone has a favorite..I use Shell Sno Ultra...smells great and no smoke after warm up in my 2010 Cat....

Proper warm up is probably the best advise anyone can give though......
