I think it has to do with how many thanks likes etc you have received, as well as green rep. you gotta go get a high score in one of the arcade games to get a trophy.

Giving rep is a good thing. I can, in the comment part of the "rep" box disapprove of your post and that is what they call "red rep".

I gave you a little "rep" for the quoted post. You will get a little message in the top right hand corner of the page when you log in again under notifications and you can see who gave you some "rep" and there may or may not be a comment.
