Just looking for some more info on this issue. I have an '07 m8, all stock except I want to add cold air intake. It seems there are differing opinions on if a fuel control box is needed or not. My dealer swears up and down it needs one but I have heard differently from others on here. Just looking for more input. Thanks!

I am sure others that actually own an 07 M8 will reply but here is what i did with my O8 M1000. My mods are as follows: Can, Koso egts, Y pipe, Timbersled intake, venting and i had Linderman cut the head for premium. I do not run a box but i made sure to run the Koso egts to keep an eye on things. I also checked my plugs before any mods and found my sled was a little rich. I have ordered a PC5 and will install it when i install my SLP pipe. First thing i would do if i were you is to check and make sure you are not already a little lean. If all looks good i would go ahead and do some venting and an intake or mod your stock intake (save some weight and money). 2nd thing i would do is the egts with a Y pipe. Are you running a can? Keep in mind every sled is different and running egts and reading plugs is always a good thing. Have a good one and good luck.

It all depends if you running a pipe or not? And what elevation you ride at? I have an 07 M8 with an SLP pipe and BDX intake and run mine with out a controller! But i ride from about 4500ft and up.

I think rigrat has a very good point and process with his post. I run an 09 HCR and at this point I have a MBRP can, V-force and D&D Y-pipe however I also run a set of EGTs to monitor every change. My sled runs lean between 5,000-7,000 RPM and I must be very careful at lower elevations as temps will easily go over 1,200 degrees. My research shows that Cat M8s run lean mid-range and if one starts running trails at low elevations, with modifications one could end up in trouble. To keep my temps down I run Lucus Octane Boost with primium (92) fuel, however I will be installing a PC-V with an Auto-Tune this summer when I install the pipe. All changes are different on each sled and what may work for me may not for others that's why it's best to monitor your sled with each change. Things as simple as leaning out the oil injection can make a difference.

I don't run a controller on my '08 M8 with a SLP pipe and Y-pipe, D&D can, and D&D Firebreather intake. I also never ride below 4500'.
