Code Reader/Scanner?????????

We were up in Allen Creek, BC two days ago when a buddies new 2010 Summit Hillclimb threw a code causing the amber check engine light to come on. We were 40km into the back when it happened...he sat tight...while we rode then headed to the parking lot with no issues. Called the dealer he bought it from and the long ans short told him not to ride it until a dealer diagnosed the issue with a scanner. We were 5 hours away from said dealer...his trip ended very short...and very disappointed with his new purchase. The friggin thing is BRAND NEW (yes he put flatland hours on it as was minding the break-in recommendations).

There has got top be software out there one can load on a laptop...make up a cable and use it to scan your sled remotely to avoid such a huge disappointment if the code does not "threaten" the health of the sled or warranty!!!

A guy talked about this in the hotel parking lot that eve...any one know of such a system?

Re: Cosd Reader/Scanner??????

This should be under the Ski-Doo forum.

But to answer your question, he is SOL. BRP does not release their software and hardware for reading codes. Nobody has it.

That being said, first check all connections on the motor and wiring harness. Knock sensor, air sensors, throttle sensor, relax connections, fuses, etc. Ski-doo have finiky wiring and control systems. Make sure all are clean and dry.

Check the blue fuse by the chain case, I was told by my dealer that fuse has been a problem on some machines and it runs most the engine control features.

I'll post there too. You can buy the scanner with software for $1500.00 the gent whom had the problem has already follow up with BRP.

We checked everything...all looked good. Took out and reinserted both by the chain case.
