It seems that the more and more i get into dirt bikeing and snowmobileing the more and more riding areas are becoming restricted just last week end i went dirt biking with my friend nathan and some one cut down trees put barb wire all over the back side of this mountin with sign's saying private property that we use to ride on so we couldnt ride on it but the property belongs to the city due to there is a cell phone tower at the top of the mountin and they need the land to get to the tower and the rcmp sead it was city land and there isnt any reason for the barb wire and the sign's to be there i dont know about you but that pisses me off

The only way to determine if anyone has the right to keep you out is to talk to the local Forest Officer that looks after the crown land in the area. Find out if is crown or not. If it is crown, ask if there are restrictions on riding there. If the Forest Officer tells you it is not crown land, then you have to confirm who owns it. It is possible that the road is owned or leased by whomever has the tower up the road, but the property outside the boundaries of the road and tower site may be owned by another party, and if so, the private owner may be trying to restrict access to his/her property off the tower road. RCMP don't always know who owns what property, so their info may not be correct. Bottom line, confirm who owns and find out if they put up the blockade.

I dirtbiked alot in GF and what we found in the past was the mushroom and weed growers would sabotage the trails we rode to keep us away from there grow areas. Heck I remember once riding the old train tracks along spencer hill then towards Eagle mountain and on the way back there were boobie traps, thanks god we saw them and dismantled them before being seriously injured or worse!!!! (barbed wire, 6x6 posts, huge rocks) It could be the Hippies, or the Tree Huggers but none the less pack a Saw and first aid kit and tire patch kit with you and dont ride after dark eh.... I got some more stories about the crazies in GF if you want to hear them lol

Sometimes people just put up signs and blockades so that others will stay out so they can have exclusive use of an area for themselves (be it legit or not). Some people think that crown land belongs to them.
