Hello, am new to this site although I have creeped the forums looking for info a few times..
I recently rebuilt the top end on my 15 xm800 and on the 2nd ride since, I noticed the exhaust sound changed (louder) followed by a check engine light. Shut the sled off for a bit and restarted it, ran fine with normal exhaust sound. This happened again, and went away with a restart. I did not know how to check the codes at the time. Wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. Would be nice to check it out before I go out again and it will not throw any codes running it in the garage.

Thanks!

Yeah guess I will have to just take er for a rip and see if it throws the code again. Now that I know the procedure. Bummer they do not store codes. Has anyone noticed a change in the exhaust sound with a code on their machines? I am wondering it maybe a power valve is hangin up?

Only time I've noticed that is when it's running on one cylinder.

The Rave valves have a plastic piece that attaches them together, so if one is hanging up they both are.

I had my 13 xm run fine all day in the mountains . On trail out it started running on one cylinder and would stop . Restarted it would run fine for about 4 klm then repeat . did this four times till I got back too truck with great relief . Pulled the plugs and they were supper black and fouled changed out with new ones and seams to run fine but haven't bin back too the mountains yet . Just running around the farm fields for Half and hour or so . Hoping it was just plugs giving up.

I was going to say pull the code. If the exhaust tone is changing it's probably the RAVE valves

Took my sled out this weekend and it ran fine for 35km or so then threw a code. Checked and found codes 1467 and 1477 indicating that the valves are staying open. Took the rave valves out and found one of the screws was not tight (my bad). Cleaned the carbon off of them and reinstalled. Tested the billows with a mighty vac and they are holding vacuum. Hope the loose bolt was the reason they are hanging up...

If cleaning them doesnt fix your problem it's likely that the rave valve manifold is on it's way out.
