I have a good friend at Mighty Peace and he hasn't hinted at anything new on the way... I was prying yesterday lol. single rail Hardcore has me thinking they trust they're design more and more

Says he will convert me from Doo next year, I'd be a real hard sell

How many years on this platform? 7th front end by now lol?

You may be converted - doo tweeked their platform from 04 to 2016 (12 years) before they came out with the G4 and that took two years to mostly fix.
I don't see ay big changes in the next year or two from Cat - depressed market an their sleds are mostly on par for performance.

Regardless of how the Cat got to be cheaper and what warranty is offered the up front cost is way lower and that is what the CONSUMER SEES if they are on a budget.
The Cats have proven to b extremely reliable - folks will forgo the warranty and "chance it".

id say its cheaper because it makes less power, less torque, has less warranty, is an extremely outdated chassis and overall an inferior product. Oh and its an 800 LOL

cant wait to watch all my cat friends destroy that single rail Hardcore. The 2 rails were the only things they didn't break this season

guys that own them sure like them though LOL

Shouldn’t throw stones when living in glass house

I’m a doo guy but the 17-18 belt blowers left a mark and now that they have a few yrs and km. Guys are finding out that 3-4000kms is the mark for needing new motor as it puts a hole in it no not all do it. Some go way past that. Some don’t make 3k either and they use a lot of oil so... I seen you comment a short block & install is what 6k ??

I’d like to upgrade to g4. But unless it has lots of warranty remaining I’m skeptical of owning it

I know the alpha isn’t perfect either -doesn’t have shot start. Rail can break ( but warranty while you have 1 yr )
The rail issue is comparable to belt issue with doo. I mean internet says so

Alpha does feel very comparable to xm how you sit/ stand etc

It’s hard to ignore price differences if you are on budget If a guy saves 1500-2000. That is 3-4 trips that are paid for.

Just for a little reality check you should go to the Alpha thread and watch the 19 Doo get out pulled three in a row.
The superior Doo product was not lookin to superior.......just sayin
After watching the videos down a 40# of fireball - will clean those Doo toxins out of your system.
Or show up at Renshaw this Sat and we'll do a few side by side pulls...for fun.

is that how you cat guys determine what the best sled is? straight up pulls? scared of the bush eh? hey 1997 called they want their twin piped RMK back. actually that sled would probably give all these new ones a run on a straight pull LOL

put that alpha on edge in the deep bush in 3 feet of snow and report back. I suspect some very stuck alphas, some very tired owners and plenty of crow eating at the dinner table.

LOL

i actually dont have a comparable sled to the alpha at the moment so ill have to pass on your invite. 154 2.5" tracks dont hook well LOL

You main argument was stating the Cat was cheaper because of less power and less torque, wouldn't a straight up pull be the best way to judge those 2 facts.....

In my opinion...no. a snowmobile with less power and torque can be made to outpull on a straight climb. Gearing/clutching/ attack angle etc are all things that can aid in the result of a straight climb win. Old way of thinking. However riding the way we do now, the way those combinations come together are completely different. How the Engine responds in on/off throttle cycles, the way the chassis cuts the snow on an edge, the way the front end weight can be manipulated based on attack angle and torque are far more important for someone who doesn't pound the same hill all day. track speed recovery, engine response. all things very noticeable in the new 850 machines polaris/skidoo vs the OLD 800. Its a VERY sluggish machine in stock form if you spend any time on any of the new stock 850s and hop onto an Alpha. Its like getting on a SKIdoo XM sled after riding an 850 all day. Once was a great machine and you would never know any different until you spend time on the new 850 series sleds. If cat could get some comparable HP and torque numbers to the new 850s, update that chassis they would have a clear winner. They do have a more efficient drive train in my opinion ( rear of sled ) thinner track, larger rear wheels, larger drivers. that does translate into freeing up some power.

The fact that Cat has a smaller CC engine and the claim you make that the Alpha has less HP and torque (I have no idea, but would probably agree) yet the Alpha still beats the Doo in most power climbs, either demonstrates how efficient Cat gets the power to ground or much better the rear drive train is than the doo. I really do not understand how you can bash Cat to the extent you do and praise how well Doo is on their "efficient driver train", yet lose hill climbs all day long with a more HP sled.

My buddies 18' Doo with the 175 is amazing though. Definitely appears in most conditions to outclimb any 165's, including Doo's and Alpha's. Maybe he got a good one or maybe the extra length really makes that much more difference. I think they are all good sleds with flaws, but I cannot drive a Doo in the twisties after riding a Cat. The time it will take to relearn is better spent enjoying myself on a new Alpha.

Hahahaha what a pile of horse nuggets!
You want Cat to get more Hp and torque??????
What kind of doolaid reasoning is that........not getting whooped bad enough now???

Any how now that that is cleared up hope you enjoy your ride this weekend.
