Anyone ever had to do this? Do you get the seal out from the back, or do you have to take the bearing out? Im guessing/hoping this is the problem. Just took the new whip out (2013 xm with 7000km, 400 on new motor) and there is oil everywhere. All over the clutches and clutch cover too. Thought it was maybe isoflex coming out of the pto bearing but seems too runny and cant see that much coming out without other major issues. Dont see any other leaks or problems anywhere else. Didnt have the sled upside down so dont think it was the breather

Has anyone found that the clutches spread loose oil in the engine bay everywhere? Havent run into this before.

Chaincase is on the opposite side of the sled as the clutch - oil on clutch side would be rave valve oil line - my guess

Yes I have done the seal replacement before but I used the BRP tool. Your leak does not sound like a chaincase seal leak.

Thats what I thought too, but this doesnt look like injection oil. The guy has amsoil in it which is bright red. When I pick it up on a white paper towel in random spots there is no redness to it at all. Looks just like chaincase oil, but I had the same thought so thats why I was asking. The only other thing that makes sense is the pto bearing seal. But there shouldnt be that much, it wouldnt be that thin, and you would think a guy would be having problems if I lost that much grease out of that bearing. Just cant think of what else it could be.

“If” its actually chaincase oil it will have a distinct smell to it. Its possible the other owner used a non gear oil in the chaincase, and the oil came out the chaincase vent when the sled was rolled over or spent sometime upside down.

Id verify the type of oil in the chaincase.

The only reason I lean towards chaincase oil is because of this. Looks like the injection oil lid is leaking too so could be either/both. Will do an oil tank insert and change that seal out. What kind of special tool do you need to change that seal? Is it from the chaincase side or the backside?

Not sure if this is relevant but my '13 was weeping injection oil at the tubing connection on the backside of the reservoir, oil was slowly running down the tube under the throttle bodies and hard to see the source. Couldn't get a hose clamp on there so I just cinched some small tie wraps instead of the spring clamp and don't fill the reservoir past 3/4 now.

I had the upper bearing leak grease on my g4 covered under warrranty ... it was grease not oil, they changed the bearing and seal. I think the problem happened when they were doing the motor mounts when new.
