So I cut my fuel filter apart today and here is a pic of it, pretty plugged and my sled has 2300 Km's. The sad part is they are expensive from polaris ($189.00) but there will be aftermarket ones available soon for about $90 bucks plus shipping through SPI, I will be ordering 2. Also the fuel pumps are acting up a bit apparently and I will be checking that when I put my new filter on but I have to figure out how to hook up a guage to the fuel injection, anyone done this?

Yes there is a thread but it says that the fuel lines will not work if you run av gas cuz they swell and restrict flow and I am planning on running all av gas this year. The factory setup has a plastic line.

Is this for the Napa parts one or the royal distributing one? Just curious because I replaced my filter this summer and will probably be running an avgas blend this winter. I got the filter from a dealer but I'm sure I only paid about $100, not 190! Looked the same as the stock one, but maybe it was aftermarket...

Can you post your dealer's name and number? I bet they will set a lot of fuel filters if they really do price them at $100.

If my filter looked like that I would be switching fuel stations, that is ridiculous. On the up side, Avgas should be a lot cleaner than your local pump premium.

I have to say that I am pissed at my dealer for quoting me such an outrageous price on the filter and I will be having words with them crooks, Chris at parkland got me a price of around $120.00 which is reasonable and I will buy from him. I will be phoning tomorrow to double check the price but I have been trying to buy parts from this particular dealer for a year now and shop elsewhere because they are being greedy and when I question them they tell me that it is that price and buy elsewhere if you don't like it, I would like to support my local dealer but not if I get bent over every time geeez.

I dug up the receipt and it was actually a bit more than I thought but still south of 190! Haha. It was 130 bucks from elk island polaris.

You are telling me no one can cross reference a fuel filter that will work for under $20?

I did on my etec. $18 filter which is identical to the oem minus the crimped on hoses which I replaced with two fuel line hose clamps for $2.

XP etecs they want $180 for the filter and hoses. XM etecs they list the filter only for $36. Likely the same filter on the Polaris.

Shouldn't be any more difficult.

Not changing your fuel filter and having it restrict fuel flow can cause a lean situtation which could take out a piston! Fuel filters should be changed every 1000 kms.

No regular fuel filter should cost that much ... take it in to a good automotive store and have them cross reference as suggested ..... as long as it meets / exceed OEM standards it cannot be used to deny a warranty claim other than in instances where the non-oem part failed resulting in collateral damage. We use Donaldson & Baldwin filters on our Volvo diesels and they are 1/2 the price.
