Canadians are hitting the road in record numbers with zero-emission vehicles. According to Statistics Canada, the first quarter saw a 53 per cent year-over-year surge in zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) registrations.

In the first quarter, 46,744 new ZEVs were registered, representing 11.3 per cent of all new vehicle registrations. Battery electric vehicles topped consumer choice, accounting for 73 per cent of the total ZEV registrations, while plug-in hybrids made up the remaining 27 per cent.

Despite a 16.6 per cent increase in overall new vehicle registrations year-over-year in the first quarter, there was a 3.1 per cent decline compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. Pickup truck registrations fell by just over 8 pe rcent, marking the first year-over-year quarterly decrease for this category after seven consecutive increases.

no such thing as Zero emmissions. The Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy can niether be created nor destroyed. It takes energy to manufacture cars. All cars. These manufacturing facilities have emmissions.

need I say more.

And there's emissions involved in creating fairy dust and unicorn parts required to fuel these vehicles.

If an EV is running for 10 hours in a closed single garage what would that impact be on the air quality? Now try this experiment with an ICE.

I don’t think an EV would run 10 hours , you’d have to recharge the batteries , with power generated produced by emission emitting machines. That would have to be considered in the equation . And there are certainly suggestions that the creation of an EV produces more emissions and impact than the creation of an IC vehicle, that should also factor in .

PS. You should have one of these on site also

Alot of Calgary's ev's run off 1 of the 2 natural gas boilers that feed the city...

If not for them the city would loose 1/2 it's power...

The natural gas burner on the North side of the city is a Buren,,, the 1 on the East side goes into burn mode at 4:30am,,, just before Noon then it really gets going at 4 pm till midnight...

They still feed a bit of coal for the Edmonton winter-burn station if they need the heat units...

Ev's run on carbon foot print in Our Province...

Lol Steam generation our we can wait for the solar panels too kick in when the moon comes out... Ha
