CAC Snowmobile Open House

John Kelly and staff at the Canadian Avalanche Centre have invited us all to attend Snowmobiler Open House at the CAC office Mon. Nov.22, 5:30-7:30 @ 110 Mackenzie Ave.
Please attend they would like to hear our ideas on how to make snowmobilers more aware.

Avalanche Awareness Day, Sat. Jan. 15/11 Boulder Mtn.

Here is the agenda for tonight.
5:15pm – refreshments should be out by this time (we’ll have some appetizer like snacks and some drinks for everyone)
5:30pm – Introductions - who is the CAC, what's the difference between the CAA and CAC.
5:40pm - CAC staff (who does what and why)
5:45pm – tour through the building and some short 5 minute talks on the following;

Media and Communications
Public Avalanche Warning Service – what we do, how we do it and who does it
Public Outreach (workshops, avalanche awareness days)
Youth Education and Outreach


We plan to be finished by 6:30 and staff will be around for a little longer for one on one Q&A, etc.

The idea is to provide a venue where CAC staff can talk to you directly about what they do and why, and provide an open question/answer environment for your members and other community folks to get answers to questions you may have.

I`d like to thank the staff at the Canadian Avalanche Centre and Canadian Avalanche Assoc. for inviting us to meet them and show us what they do. Pizza and pop was nice too.
Directors for the RSC, SRS, BCSF and Dennis Burns from the CCSO attended, lots of info was shared and questions answered.
Our next get together will be at our annual Avalanche Awareness Day on Sat. Jan. 15 Boulder Mtn. starts at 9 a.m.
Come on up and meet the CAC and CAA staff and brush up on your avy training.
