You have to do a bunch of paper work before hand and have to be in the states for a certain amount of time then when you get there you have to pay gst and sign papers and bring it accross then have to take it to canadian tire and get the sled checked out!

i have imported a few. The paperwork is predictable and not too onerous. The real problem is that you have to fax the paperwork to the border 3 days prior to importing the sled.

Unless you are planning on spending 4 or more days in the US, you pretty much have to make two trips or buy the sled sight unseen. If it is new, no problem. If it is used, then you could end up buying a lemon.

the other issue is the recall letter. BRP is a total pain in the arse. Polaris and arctic Cat aren't quick but they are predictable.
