I am looking at new Polaris sleds in Montana and am wondering if anyone out there has ever brought one up from the states. What issues, concerns, taxes etc need to be dealt with.
Thanks

There are lots of other threads on this subject; it is just like which can should I get, what skis look good, which oil is best, what track should I invest in, LED taillights, how much extra HP doo monster stickers have, and so on......

I typed in "buying a sled in the states" and this is what I came up with....pages and pages of reading.....like it's all there already!

Hopefully you don't have any issues with it, Or it's going to be a looooong drive back to the states. No warranty up here for U.S products.

Holy cow. I think a bunch of you need to get off your high horses. If the Canadian dealers arent competitive with their prices, why not go down to the states to buy a sled? A couple of years ago this was all the rage. And now all of a sudden its not kosher?? Give me a break.

Completely agree with you Deaner. Im sure there's lots of stuff these 'saints' have done in their lives to support Canada; whether it be cheating on tax returns, buying an NHL jersey from china, etc... Black Kettle - meet black pot. Or maybe they just have the extra thousand or two to burn - in that case let me get my paypal account on here and rattle the tin cup. And dont give me 'I just like supporting Canada' then all you 'beakers' are riding doo' correct? Its made in canada unlike the other 3

My pockets are not as deep as some peoples so I am looking to save a little where I can. Besides, I went to my local dealer and inquired about a partcular model that was in stock and the salesman said he would have to look for it in his racks and left it at that. He then shuffled through some papers, took my name and said he would call the next day. That was 4 days ago. Times must be great for this guy.

Ya save a thousand or two, then pop a motor and see how much ya save after that........, warranty is worth its weight in gold. Buddy bought a dragon 800 in the states a few years back, saved $2400 or so on it, 2 motors later, no warranty on any of them and he has one hell of an expensive paper weight holding his garage floor down......., all to save a little coin? Its currently on its 3rd motor and now hes out way more than he saved. And it's supporting a dealer trying to run a business in canada, its not their fault the sleds are more here, thats just the way it is

When you have cash to spend and the dealer won't give you the time of day, its time to look at other options. The US maybe one of them. I don't plan on "popping" anything, only the dealers lackadaisical attitude.

Just really check your prices, a buddy was thinking of doing the same and on the polaris's there was a difference of a few hundred bucks, not including fuel and time when all the dust settled. BRP is a different story though, might have corrected prices for this year though. On the pro 155 we brought back last year there was about $1000 bucks saved but this year is pretty slim.

I agree if the dealership has a bunch of douches working there as salesman then don't give em the business. But there is plenty of other poo dealerships around, all the guys I work with that ride polaris deal here in whitecourt and from what I have heard hes awesome and goes the extra mile for ya, he sure was offering me a sweet deal last year trying to get me to buy a poo but I had my heart set on a cat and in the end thats what I bought. Got a great deal, get an awesome discount on parts and accesories and the service is great

I think for any big purchases your a fool not to go to the USA. When I bought my car I found 3 in Canada for sale between 60 and 70,000. I found one in Maine for 30,500. Which one do you think I bought? Im thinking about buying a plane and some of them are up to 2/3 cheaper in the USA. Im going south thats for sure.
