anyone happy they are getting $1000 back on the purchase of a new sled? our dollar is par, they sell very close to the same # of sleds in Canada as the US, Nafta has no trade restrictions, can anyone give me a legit reason for the $4000 price difference.

i'm fed up with the price difference, maybe if everyone started to ask why at the stealer ship, we may get some satisfaction.

BRP take your $1000 and shove it, real hard. as it will be a long time before i buy a new sled , atv etc. in Canada.

How much does it cost for the average warranty claim? A lot less then $4,000 I'll bet so even if you do lose warranty you are still ahead, plus how many guys modify their sleds voiding the warranty anyhow?

meh, the most you will save buying from the states from what i have read is around 2500$ on a machine all expsnses in. unless you dont have to go and get it i suppose , and no warranty and the hassle.

the $ differance is worth having a good relationship with your local dealer for the future in my opinion. and when your motor goes down the bill WILL be 4000$ anything else would not be such a big deal.

i agree the price differance is not fair but it isnt your dealers problem. take it up with brp and while your at it talk to the major vehicle manufactueres aswell and ask them why the truck i want here is 10,000 more

Its frustrating I know but we, as Canadians in a whole, can afford to pay $4000 more for a sled. Compare our average incomes to those in the USA. Unfortunately I'm not willing to take a pay cut in order to have a cheaper sled. This is just my opinion. It helps the pain :(

summit54, you must be in a different boat, i'm sure that you may be the only one willing to spend another 4000 dollars on the toys, i want parity or will buy new in the states. trucks, cars, quads, sleds, trailers etc. wow thats $16000 minimum of my money, i'd like to keep in my pocket. or maxwell says it's $2500, all depends on how you run the numbers. my last sled was bought in utah, and i'll say it was $4500 less, it was a trip(holiday) travel costs were involved, but we had 4 days of fantastic sledding that we would not have gotten otherwise.

I'm thinking you guy's are missing the point, a slight difference i can handle put 30 to 40 percent not a chance. not sure about this warranty refusal as nafta trade agreements may apply and with a lawyer you will get warranty i'm sure. even here you will have to fight for it. don't think so just check the posts on this forum.

i know you can row your own boat, i'm just fed up with the price difference, can't see alot of change until sled sales drop. i'd be willing to buy if it was within 10 to 15 percent. in your case your bottom line, i assume require's newer equipment, that is running and is safe, your customers will demand it. have a good summer may see you out at the outwest camp sometime.

in no way have i treated my local dealer{skidoo} like crap, they are usually the first i'll call, for parts or new sleds. i have purchased 7 sleds from them, 2 quads and generator, plus lots of $$$$ on parts. they treat me well, as i them. i have no beef with the dealer, he has his markup, i buy from him if he has the parts or will order when i can wait. i have the luxury of being all over alberta and check prices and availability at various shops as i travel. there can be a substantial price difference.
if you wait till fri to call the dealer, you the gambling man. i'm not sure if you have read the post or not maxwell, with a US sled, brp can refuse warranty(so they say), you can talk all the nice you want(you may have the gift) but you will have to fight brp to get warranty not the dealer. you have never purchased in the states, i assume?

no i havent i wont buy sleds in the states but will make the trip for a new vehicle. i know they wont honor the warranty. never said they would. same as when i purchase practice sleds from a race team member. no warranty. there was a member on here who called and the dealer even tried to blacklist him over the phone in a very sneaky way

there are those that will try that alright, won't set foot in there rip off joint.
only power that we have on the price is choosing where we purchase from.
the crappy dealers will find out soon enough as this forum singles them out, and we can then make our decision as to where we will buy.

Holy crap where are you getting your work done? You need to shop around a little that dealer is bending you over. If you have any, even a little mechanical ability you can rebuild a two stroke engine fairly easily, even if you don't there are a lot of small engine repair places that will rebuild an engine for a lot less than $4000.00.

yes if all your doing is the top end, start throwing in crank work and you'll add up real quick

ive never rebuilt a motor in my life. whats a 2stroke?

my point is when an 800r grenades and you need the dealership to replace it 3000-4000 is not unrealistic.

I called BRP,and they said any original factory warranty on the sled is void, but all extended is covered when imported from the US.the only prob.,is no US dealer will or can sell a new one.i have talked to a couple that'll enter a sled into they're rental program, you rent it and then purchase a rental sled!Don't know 'bout the rest of the mfg's but prob. the same!!
