This will be my first outting to the mountains and was wonder which area would be good. Rode lots but never in the mts. Gonna rent sled and gear along with a guide to make it as safe and fun trip. Just wondering where to start. Thanks for all the info and Happy Holidays.

Toby Creek in Radium is about as beginner as you can get, they rent sleds and tour guides, it's mostly a drive up the really nice trail in a big group, get to the cabin and have a BBQ, then the guide will take you around in the bowls which are very small, they sort of just let u roam free a little, then you ride down the trail at the end of the day. This is for someone who has NEVER been on a sled, also entire families would enjoy this, unless your wife or gf is hardcore into sledding this may be boring.

If you are familiar with sleds then i would suggest pretty much anywhere... some times you don't even need a guide, there are always people in the parking lot willing to have tag alongs (meet some great riding buddies this way). Revelstoke is very tourist friendly with package deals for rooms/rentals/gear and guides, also it's very high traffic so you will never be on the mountain alone.

Really what you need to figure out is where you want to go... simply saying best place for beginners doesn't really narrow it down much... what you should be thinking about is will it take me 2 hours to get there or 8...

Have a good season!!!
