:confused:What do you guys think is the all around better pack to have. The nytrogen ABS or the Snowpulse CO2. They both have their benefits. Just looking for suggestions and experiences for both. Want the better not worth cutting costs here.

I would go with the time proven ABS. I'm sure adequate testing has been done but CO2 is more prone to freezing/plugging lines during discharge than nitrogen.

They aren't filled with CO2, ;) they are filled with dehydrated breathing air like in Scott paks, they wont freeze.:beer:
scotts will freeze up in cold weather but thats a lot of air going thru !vervus small amount of a pack!i'm not against the new style but do your research before you buy it!was told and this is not first hand so take it for that.but the other pack is also GREEN freindly if you care, and also the ablity to turn your head to see stuff maybe an issue.Don't shoot the messanger just what i heard!my 1 cent

I went with the Snowpulse. A lot of guys say that they don't like how they can't see as much with the bag that protects your head, but face it, if you are trying to outrun an avalance on your sled, you won't be looking anywhere but exactly where you want to point your sled. I like the trauma protection, the fact that you can breathe the air once the bag starts to deflate, the lighter weight, the gauge that shows you the pressure (ABS canisters must be weighed to confirm no leaks), the ability to check the function of the release mechanism without a canister attached, the lower cost of refilling the bottle, and I like the quality of materials used in the Snowpulse. Take a look at both, then make your own decision.

Some good detailed reasons there! Thanks

It's not the air that causes the freeze up it's the moisture in your breath as you exhale into the regulator that causes the reg to freeze up. The air in a scott air pack is much to dry to ever cause freeze ups.

Snowpulse seemed a lot lighter than the ABS. I found the Snowpulse was more comfortable to wear. As for the trauma protection with the Snowpulse..........I don't know, I can't see how a bag of air will stop a block of snow the size of a car.

I like the idea of the snowpulse but like others have said, time will tell if it will work. ABS is proven

Either of them will be better than neither of them, as long as you don't think you're invincible when you have one on.
