So I've been toying with the idea of trying to get a beacon basin put in nose hill park. Anyone think this is a good idea? Maybe I should get a petition going.? Any ideas or help would be appreciated. There's so many back country enthusiasts in Calgary I think it'd be worth it! Cheers! :D

Beacon Basin? how would this work....just leave some beacons out so people could randomly do a search...what are you thinking exactly? You could set up a training company on how to use beacons and piggy back it with a first aid training.A friend of mine who is a paramedic teaches first aid classes of different degrees .

A beacon basin is pre buried beacons and there's a control box that allows you to turn one or more beacons at a time. It's a great tool to use to show people how to use their beacon and perform multiple searches

It would be permanent. I also thought it'd be good to have a board with some avy info on it, maybe a covered picnic table area for discussions etc. the company I work with is willing to donate equipment and tools to build.
