Has anyone tightened the spring themselves?

Or do you need to take it to the rv shop?

Thanks for any advise.

you can try tightning it youself want yourself, but I had my dealer do mine there is lots of spring tension there, and you have to take the awning arm off while holding the drum, it.s not really a one person job. I watched my dealer do mine..
I don't know what issue your awning is having but I only had one side tightened because only one side was loose. It helped a bit, but I have to twist the drum on that one side by hand after I roll it up and use those velcro awning straps on my arms. The drum will eventually fully tighten while driving. My trailer is only 2 years old I think its the way the fabric relaxes while the awning is out and thats why the awning only rolls up to 99%.

all you need is a pair of vise grips and a 7/16 wrench with 2 people. roll the awning out and clamp the vise grip on the spring rod close to the end cap, put pressure on the vise grip and remove the bolt holding the torsion assembly to the arm while someone is holding the awning tube. do not let go of the vise grips as they are under extreme pressure..crank the spring tighter and reconnect the torsion assembly to the arm. do both ends the same rotations.

I will try that before next trip...I have the clips on the arms to stop the flapping..

It just seems so loose and stretched out or something..
