Dangerous Drives - Avalanche Road

Anybody catch this program on the Speed Network?? It is about the piece of road that takes you into Valdez Alaska through the Thompson Pass.

The trucker who drives it calls it an avalanche hazard 24hrs a day, 7 days a week through the winter. The even wear their beacons while driving...

Maybe the government should introduce some laws so the people who drive it get fined, just like they want to do to sledders who put themselves at risk:beer:

Me, I'm thinking that would be some good sledding:d

I guess it would be best to shut off Valdez during the winter, no supplies needed, no food, no fuel.

Yup, sounds good.

Was this the one where he plows the road using GPS? The driver cant see squat just a 10" screen and a buzzer that tells him when he is too closeto the edge.

Pretty cool episode, I think it came out in january the first time I saw it.
I can relate because I have the same job in BC during the winter on the highways. 12 hour night shifts in snowstorms can be brutal, I have never used one of those gps screens though...just have to leave the window down and look at the ground to see if youre moving or not:beer:
