so if you're in BC you're staying in BC, and if you're wanting to go into BC wait longer?

sort of, there are alternate routes but will be quite a bit longer if you're heading to valemount or mcbride

CALGARY- A high avalanche hazard forced the closure of the Trans-Canada highway on Monday.
Highway 1 has been closed in both directions all the way from Revelstoke, B.C. to the Alberta border. There are no detours available between Revelstoke and Golden, but the roadway was expected to reopen sometime on Monday afternoon.
The highway between Golden and Alberta near Field is not expected to reopen until late Tuesday. Drivers can use Highway 95 from Golden to Radium instead, or Highway 93 south from Radium to Castle Junction.
An avalanche on Highway 16 near Valemont, B.C. also forced the closure of that roadway.

road open year around... Is subject to closures however

Oh ok I wasn't a 100% sure if it was or not. I just thought I seen a sign the last time I went through Jasper saying it was closed from a certain date to a certain date.
