Got my enmax bill for June, gas was $30, power was $50, longest days of the year summer that's pretty low usage. Total bill after rider this, admin that .... $223. I think this bs is getting out of hand close to 65% of bill is stuff other than the gas and electricity.

That's what happens when it takes 3 different company's to get the product to u. U have the producer, the ppl who own the power lines and the ppl who get it to your house. What makes it even worse is the largest power producer in ab is in the news every couple years for market manipulation. I often wonder what would of happened if it would of stayed crown??

I turn red everytime I see my electricity bill. I've called Enmax asking them to tell me what in my house would cause some of the ridiculous spikes. Tranmission fees? Are they charging for the electricity it takes to get it to my house?
Good thing I signed up for the 8cents/kw for 5 years deal when I did.
Gas with Direct Energy and has been very reasonable.

My wife calls me Grandpa Simpson because of the emails I write.

BC Hydro is crown. 28% rate increase over 5 years. I got a 4% increase in wages over those 5 years! Many people got nothing!
My GF just moved to AB and the utility rates there are insane even compared to BC Hydro's increases. The delivery charges are often more than the actual product it's rage inducing.

We are paying to give our electricity to the USA it seems. The new power line from Genesee goes by a couple miles away from my place straight to the border. We just take it dry with a big smile on our faces...

BC hydro has a wonderful program called team power smart. If you sign up and reduce your power bill by 10% or more in a year they will send you a cheque for 75 tax free dollars. Once you sign up for team power smart you will be able to see your power usage hour by hour and year by year with your smart meter on your computer. I signed up 4 years ago... first year i reduce my bill by 36%, then 24% and now 11%. My bills are now 20 dollars a month summer time and 30 dollars a month winter time plus i received 225 in cheques . I now am power smart and it takes no effort to achieve this.

I was about $40/month in summer (electric hot water tank, bedroom AC), and $50/month in the winter (truck plugged in on timer, more TV) and wood heat.

I'm sure the ppl of AB had a rate increase well over 28% within the first 5 years of privatization in fees alone. I recently bought a house with AÇ in Sasktoon and my power bill is about $25 a month less and I do not aç on my house in ab. Two ppl live in both locations. ill be moving back to sk in 2 weeks can't wait to see less fees than product on my utility bills. can't wait to ride my dirt bike around with no insurance if I want too and not have to registration Toys and drive in a mud hole with out ppl crying about it.

If you take a look at this website you can see every power plant in the province as well as power being sold/bought from other provinces/states, it will show that Alberta usually does not sell power to the US. Alberta often buys a small amount of power from its neighbors.

To see this click current on the left side, then click on the Current Supply & Demand Report. All values are given in MW (1,000,000 watts).

There's also a handy app called megawatts Alberta. Here's some real time Info from the app. In the pics you can see that all of tau coal plants are derated and were buying power from bc and Montana? Something's wrong with this picture. I read that they will be facing the music again in aug when they are In court again for market manipulation.

Led light bulbs, wash dishes by hand, cast iron cook ware, use your barbeque for cooking instead of electric stove, good toaster oven instead of stove oven, get rid of extra fridges and deep freezes, change out your computer power supply with a platinum one, modern 40 inch tv uses less power, a DC motor in your furnace saves lots to. Hang your clothes to dry.

Mayby it's the wage increase that the city has been bending over for enmax.

Yup good old Transalta Utilities. Sundance #6 turnaround is almost complete. Sundance #3 & #4 boilers are in such bad shape we will be rebuilding them soon like we did last year with Sundance #1 & #2 boilers.
