Hello all,

Hey, I read in an earlier thread that a constantly blinking engine light on my 2006 M7 pointed to an engine temp over 175 degrees. Is this true and if so why doesnt the engine temperature light come on. It was suggested to me to try putting octane additive in with the gas, which did make the light stop flashing, but then the local dealer told me the engine should run just fine on 87% octane. Any wise words of wisdom out there.

That's not a temperature indication. Your check engine light is flashing a fault code. Count the flashes then check the decal on your ECU for the fault. A flashing temperature light is an indication of over heat.

87 octane is all you need for fuel. In fact most of them run lousy on 91 octane.

I found out the flashing eng light is a temp issue. mine came on riding down the trail, put scratchers down and it went away. ride with 3 other m7's all have had it happen.
