Been pretty stoked about this one, got a change to watch it last night in Vancouver...

From the trailer and the hoards of tight pants / plaid shirt hippy lookin fellas outside I thought it would be a 100% tree hugger flick, but what the hell i been skiing 25 years and sledding 2 so I figured i'd enjoy it anyway.

In the beginning credits there was Dan Treadway, so I figured he'll be throwing some huge cliff drops on his skis like he used to and talk about how awesome skiing is... sure enough, his segment starts with a close up of him filling diesel in the truck and gas in the jerry cans and talking about how much of a hypocrite we all are if we snub our noses at sledders and not enjoy all aspects of snow sports because we want to use less and do less and what not .. then it goes into him throwing down the biggest cliff drops and deepest pow turns on his sled ..

pretty amazing movie all around if you haven't seen it yet. order the dvd, go to the premiere, get a copy, etc .. but if you get a chance to watch it.. it'll be worth your while ! The visual effects are stunning and I can't even compare them to any other ski/snowboard/sled movie ever made.. I think it'll be a while till this one gets topped

The trailer does not do this movie justice!

I was at the Whistler premier. The movie is by far my favourite of the year! The treadway segment was unbelievable! There was definitely a feeling of uncomfortableness and confusion when he called everyone out for being hypocrites. I of course was one of maybe 3 people out of 800 who cheered and clapped. Was a sight to see all those butt hurt wanna be "earth loving" heli/cat skiers being called out! The whole movie was done really well. It doesnt dwell on the environmental issues and isnt there to make anyone feel bad. It was more just a go and have fun, burn some gas but at the end of the day try to offset your carbon foot print if you are into heli, cat, sled skiing, truck driving....
The cinamatography is the best Ive ever seen in a outdoorsy flick and 70% of the skiing is shot from Whistler, Squamish, Pemby and Nelson! A nice way to rub into the rest of the world how much the West Coast pretty much owned last year.

I was kinda curious about that film... so what exactly IS the message they're sending?? It definitely seemed to be trying to make a statement rather than just being a sweet flick. Which was cool but I was confused! they seemed to show sooo much industry in the teaser and i couldn't quite tell if they were saying it was a BAD thing... maybe a necessary evil type of thing?? curious to know more about it...

and yeah, they had some REALLY artistic, cool shots!! I'm STOKED to see the sledding industry FINALLY starting to go that direction with it's films too!

and it's REALLY cool to see some crossover, I didn't eralize there was that from the teaser. There are sooooo many people who crossover but for some SILLY reason there is this HATRED of skiiers from the sledding community and visaversa.... I think it's creating some even nastier political moves surrounding land closures and it would be nice to see the two factions understand each other a little better! I know many who do both but there are those who don't and like to perpetuate the 'hatred and misunderstanding' so having films show the two different user groups getting along and all playing together is GREAT!

I talked to Dave M after the Whistler premiere. The main message he wanted to get accross is have fun! We are all lucky enough to live or access these amazing area so have fun on it. Whether it's skiing, snowboarding, heli skiing, sledding....but .....just try to be aware of what kind of footprint you are leaving behind. We are all guilty of this whether it's by driving your car to a ski hill, cat skiing, sledding, farting too much. At the same time take personal inventory of what kind of carbon foot print you are leaving and try to offset in your own certain way. Recycling, carpooling, eating less meat, farting less ( ahemm...mr sideways!!!) .... Embrace the lifestyle we are able to live, be proud of it, we are really really lucky but do what you can in your own way to keep this planet ticking as long as we can.
With that being said, GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!! The skiing is stupid deep! Treadways segment (alot from SN14) is amazing and the 80-90 year olds who run shuttles up the mountain to slay powder owns! It doesnt have much attitude, it has alot of really stoked skiers shredding deep ass lines having a tonne of fun!

not to mention JP Auclair's "urban jibbing" segment .. probably one of the most innovative segments i've seen in a ski movie.

Wicked movie! JP Auclair's part was one of the coolest and funnest looking parts ever. I love movie parts that just look crazy fun, like a lot of Hjorliefson's stuff in Matchstick movies and Gigi Ruf in Absinthe snowboard films. The fall-leaves to mid-winter-pow morph stuff in those tree lines were cool too.
The angles, time lapses, volcano, and camera angles were wicked! That frozen harbour/fjord looked like it was breathing. For the video to be in the DVD player more than a few times, there would have to be a bonus feature to skip all the cool non-skiing stuff and just leave some agressive pow riding, with a metal soundrack instead of the crap they stuff in all the movies these days.

The urban section was amazing, I usually hate that stuff, but that was my favorite part of the movie. Treadway was great to see, and so is anything with Hoji in it, he's always throwing down great segments.

It's on itunes for $10, worth buying for sure!

Yeah they played it in Kimberley. My favorite movie of the year for sure. The best part was the scene where Treadway is filling all the jerry cans with gas standing next to his big lifted truck. The movie was sponsored by the local environmental group so that made me laugh. Great urban scene in Trail.

Agreed this was the same with the all the greenies I saw the movie with. Awkward silence from the hypocrites!!!!!

I went and saw TGR's ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD, and All I Can was way better. Nice to see some BC boys doing well.

I was at the Whistler premier too, place was packed with 1500 people. Great band after too. Pretty much all if not all the pro skiers and boarders in Whistler sled. It's the only way most of them can get into the backcountry. Dan segment rocked as well as JP Auclair. The best ski/sled film I have seen. The point was go out and have fun but be aware of the effects.
