Anyone know if using Amsoil on a new unit voids warranty? Namely a new Summit 800 etek. Don't know much about BRP machines.

Using the full synthetic in mine right now the guy at the dealership said it didn't matter as long as it was full syn. :) Amsoil is better than the castrol(DOO) oil IMO.

Hey Man, Stick with the BRP oil, I'm running the blend in both 09 and my e-tec, I wouldn't want to risk my warrenty using another brand oil if I had a failure. Engine is too new and has alot of expensive technology in it. Just my 2cents.

I think that Amsoil is a good product for the price.
But I am also a strong believer of factory oils.

Not to famailiar yet with the etec, but I understood that one of its big claims was it consummed very little oil. If thats true then why switch to 'cheaper oil'.
I would run nothing other than the brp oil. I like others have switched to the lesser priced oils and now stick to the manufacture brand oils. Why take the chance, just for the sake of saving a few bucks!

I havn't heard anything bad about amsoil or the BRP oil, The BRP full synthetic is a new blend for this year supposed to be a better oil compared to the blend. The owner manual says run the blend as well as the oil tank sticker, and I remember a piece of paper I had to inital when I picked up the sled about what oil to use.
It's whatever a person feels comfortable with and I feel more comfortable running BRP oil. Is there a better oil out there? maybe but I'm not a chemist, but I do know that the base stock for full syn oil come from the same lab, no matter who buys it.
BRP wants low warrenty claims, so why would they choose a oil supplier that wouldn't give the best coverage and lubricity, for their engines.

I'd put money down that AmsOil is a better oil than the BRP stuff any day --(unless the BRP stuff is made by AmsOil!) BRP does not make it's own oil anyway, they just put their name on it, put it in the fine print of their warrantee and charge the guts out of you for it. It's probably Mobil 1 oil.

What do you base your opinion on. BRP oil has done me no wrong in the last 15 years. Does Amsoil operate an oil refinery???????

As a jet fighter squadron commander LIEUTENANT COLONEL ALBERT J. AMATUZIO had ample opportunity to witness synthetic lubricants in action. These oils are used exclusively in jet engines because of three extraordinary performance characteristics: an ability to reduce friction and wear on engine components, an ability to function dependably at severe temperature extremes and an ability to withstand rigorous and lengthy engine operation without chemical breakdown.

Albert J. AmatuzioRecognizing that these same benefits would prove invaluable in combustion engines, Al Amatuzio formulated the first synthetic motor oil in the world to meet API service requirements for automobile engines. The new lubricant performed like no other before it. When the first can of AMSOIL 10W-40 appeared on the market in 1972, it signaled the birth of an entire industry. AMSOIL synthetic lubricants have expanded the boundaries of lubrication science and redefined the performance possibilities of modern machinery and engines.

AMSOIL INC. was founded on Al Amatuzio’s desire for technical innovation, his commitment to high quality and his belief that consumers would respond to a superior product. The company has remained true to these ideals; its history is a checklist of revolutionary products that have withstood the tests of time. As the pioneer corporation in the field of synthetic lubrication, AMSOIL sees its Commitment to Excellence as a historical responsibility, and A.J. Amatuzio’s energy and vision continue to drive the company forward. ...inspired by aerospace technology

Al Amatuzio's induction to the Lubricants World Hall of Fame is the ultimate tribute to the man who started it all. He is firmly established among the giants who have shaped the industry. Al Amatuzio's desire for technical innovation, his commitment to higher quality and his belief that consumers respond to superior products remain the core of the AMSOIL philosophy.

What he said :)
I rebuilt my 2002 mountain ct triple at 1700 miles. used exclusively AmsOil Dominator oil for 2 stroke. At 3500 miles my balance shaft went and required another teardown. After 1800 hard miles you can still see the crosshatching in the cylinder walls! I use only AmsOil 0w40 4 stroke synthetic in my new Z1 Turbo. In my humble opinion there is no better oil.

It sounds like that oil works really good!!:d Good oil and rebuilt engines should not be used in the same post.

I replaced a cracked piston in my 583 at 12,000km and the cross hatch was still there, using BRP mineral oil.

Anywhere the snow is deep, and the hills are steep
I myself have ran Amsoil Dominator and had good luck with it. The motor on my '04 Rev still looked new inside at the first rebuild. BUT, there's one thing I've found about Amsoil, Either you LOVE it or you HATE it. There seems to be no in between. Just ask Kelsey from RK Tek, the guy builds engines for a living, and says in ALL his instructions, use ANY oil you can possibly find, EXCEPT Amsoil........... The XPS(BRP) oil is crazy expensive, but I have a hard time believing they would say to run an insufficient oil, when their reputation is on the line.

I dunno

(PS, I also had a catastrophic engine failure using BRP oil in an RK Tek engine that cost me a heli ride. But, thats a sore spot I don't really want to get into)

I know Amsoil is a good product,I use it in everything I own. I just want to know if the warranty on a new unit will void if we use it. Can't seem to get a straight answer from any dealers. Maybe they just want to sell their own oil.

Oh, well I guess we should all switch to BRP:rolleyes:

I run Amsoil in everything because it is supposedly better AND I get it cheap. When we started running it in our four strokes, we ran two KLR 650s, one with, and one with another brand. My buddy took a sample of both oils to a lab in Edmonton who then analysed them and determined that the Amsoil maintained its lubrocity where the other brand had broken down due to thermal degredation. AT 20 000 kms another sample of Amsoil was sent in by itself to test their claim, and while it had a lot of particulate, there was no thermal break down. That sold me on the four stroke stuff and I can say all my vehicles start way better in the cold with Amsoil vs Mobil 1 and Quaker State full synthetic.

As for the two stroke, I like how clean the rave valves stay with Amsoil. That only shows how well it burns, not lubricates, but I can't see it being worse than brp.

Ask the dealer who will warranty your etec, then use what he says, imo.
