We will be making our annual pilgrimage to Kimberley this summer but have been considering checking out a couple places around the area. Ladies in the group have requested the following:

Showers, beach for the kids, warm water lake if possible, sani dump, and power if possible but not necessary.

Looking at Kokanee Creek as one possibility. Not warm water per say but beach looks good and fishing abundant (Dads need things too!!).

Anyone been to Kokanee Creek and have thoughts.

Any other suggestions for the East Kootenays. Don't want to drive much further West.

All are pulling trailers 25 to 28 feet.

Thanks.

The lake at Kokanee creek will not be warm by any means, hahaha.
Such a great spot though, lots to do around there.

Another option is Fort Steele, there is tons of good fishing close by, up the bull river.
Fort Steele Resort and RV Park

There is camping on lake koocanusa that is good, better for a later in the summer visit so the sediment on the lake can settle

Hard to think of more camping spots today, mind is still stuck on riding pow...

I used to live in Nelson. Kokanee is beautiful camping. There are also a number of smaller Private ones on that side. Plenty to choose from.

Have fun !!!!

Thanks all. I like the area a lot. Kimberley has always been a great base for us and lots for all to do. Some good reports on Kokanee Creek so looks like we might try it.

Jay, I did a trip up the Bull last summer. Went a ways up. Tough go of it getting down to the river but the fishing was insane. More than likely hit it again this summer. Last trip was titled "Death Scramble Cougar Hole". Here's a pic why....

Woah, that's something you don't see every day. Yea, fishing the Bull is great. There are some excellent alpine lakes out that way too, makes good breakfast after waking up in a tent...

You can't go wrong with Kokanee creek or any of the other campgrounds around there, such nice country. There is a beach at six mile where you can pretty much walk on a sandbar into damn near the middle of the lake.
