CR Racing tunnel dump exhaust or a deep snow intake hose, which is a 90 degree hose that gets the intake up a bit. good year # 61229 i believe. Both work great to fix this problem. CR exhaust is probly the best solution though. It is alot louder than the stock mcx setup though, and you have to get your tunnel cooler in the stock tunnel shortened 5 1/4" and rewelded to fit the exhaust. happy sledding!

Running a second pre filter helps quite a bit. The first filter will freeze to the cage but running a second seems to make it easy to clean. If you clean it regularly enough it wont freeze to the cage and is way easier to keep clear.

I take the cage and filter into the cabin to warm up just like my gloves and helmet......when out in the bowls I take it off and hold it up to the exhaust to blow dry it out.........this works great but I have to do it alot. so putting a deflector around the cage/filter wont help? what does adding a tunnel dump do to pervent the ice from building up on the air intake......my exhaust shoots out the rights side and my intake is ahead and to the left of the exhaust.

Sorry Overkill131313 I didn't look at your sig to see you have an apex not a nytro. So disregard my post about the tunnel dump, Landon's idea is a good one, or you could put a 90 degree elbow on there to get the intake up higher and in the open away from all the snow and ice buildup. PM me anytime, always here to help! CR

I have a 07 apex w 310 kit. I am in the middle of running a tunnel exhaust dump. Going to tee the intake and run 2 cage filters w snow covers. One on the right side like the left side.

Just like said before you need to get the air intake as far away from the heat as possible to avoid icing.

Way out back or with a 90 degree elbow up helps a lot.

cheers.............

You can run the filter up high and It does work for the icing. Also looks goofy, just my 2 cents! I was refering to the front mounts.

great info! I'm thinking of adding some pipe to my exhaust and dumping it out the bottom of the tunnel.......and I like the idea of making a tee for the intake and running two screens cages...now I just have to find some time to build lol!
