It sure would be poetic justice if he was forced to pay for the chopper, AND a fine after all is said and done.

Sounds like a dick move to me, I hope they nail him with it.

Find out who the insurer is. I am sure they would be really happy to find out that it was left abandoned. He probably reported is stolen or written off.

Ya that mabey true but as me being the president of the club in that area im obliged to report any violations as per our agreement with MOE. So it shows the clubs are doing there part to stop the idiots from doing there thing freely.

Does anyone know what the fines would be to someone who abbandons a sled on the mountain with no intentions of retrevial.

I do not know if it is legal to take a quad and trailer up and get it??? Is that possible??

No chance of quad access, over 2 very rugged and steep mountains at the foot of a glacier. Sled access is done as of last week. Helli only now. If it would run it probably wouldnt have been left.

It takes alot to get left,we brought you out.LOL. next time you come up mabey we will get sun. We will be doing a big rally on the beach on Decemer 28th this year with a poker run, good family event. come out for the day and meet all the Seymour Crazies.

I actually thought about this, motor is blown on an 800 zx. so at best case that bill would be about 2500 to 3000 for heli and repair on a sled that is only worth that. Wouldnt be financially worth it to myself but doesnt excuse owner for leaving it.

Ya its AZZHATZ like this guy that wreck it for us all. I hate to be a rat but have no choice. they are always flying over this area and that sled would stand out like a sore thumb at the foot of a glacier.

Gonna play devil's advocate here since the thread is light on details. I don't know the "major douche" it just looks like a thread for bashing some guy who's too cheap to pay for a helicopter. If I had a sled that was that old, like hell I'd waste money choppering it out, I'd let the fuggin' thing wait until next fall.

Why can't a guy just haul out parts and do a "get it running enough" repair? Did he leave it because he's waiting for snow now? Is a piece of rope and a come-along so hard to use?

I've seen machines left behind on a mountain lots of times. Usually snow was too deep to tow, but back in the old days, a machine would end up in some stupid gully the guy would have to wait for spring to get it out. I've heard of a guy swapping out a top end up on the hill. I can't see a relatively new machine like that being entirely abandoned, maybe some old clunker POS. Besides, it ain't hurting nothing, if it's that remote it'll probably be covered in moss before granola crunchers see it and it'll probably make a good home for some squirrels. It's not like it's going to spontaneously start spewing oil and antifreeze any more than it probably already has. They aren't going to close down areas because some guys machine broke and he couldn't get back to it right away.

Besides, now you know where to find spare parts if you're up on the mountain next winter! If the guy himself has said he's never going back there, anyone can claim salvage rights, I doubt it's un-towable in spring conditions. Oppurtunity knocks!

he has stated he is leaving it and he is well into a permantly closed area already. Not just outside the boundary but about 2 ranges back. I didnt start this to bash. I was curious as to what type of fines there are. If it was a matter of taking in parts to repair and ride out,why has he left it untill there is no more sled access. This area is spring accesible only and sled is psitioned right where the glacier calves off (from my understanding) so mabey it will magically start spewing oil. If you are so good at sled recovery when I find out GPS location I will pass them on and you can have yourself a new sled. Cheers and happy canada day.
