My bro-in-law is looking at picking up an '05 or '06 900 RMK 159. Any opinions on what upgrades/mods work well on these sleds? I've read alot of negative stuff about these sleds; but I know of a few guys that swear they got theirs pulling marks right with the King Cats, RT's, and M1000's.

If he is going with a 159, should bump up to a 166... I imagine BIGFOOT will have some good input!

All I can tell you is the guy I ride with all the time rides a 05 900 RMK and that sled is pretty much trouble free and climbs very well.He has no plan on trading it off or selling it and this will be his second year on it.I think its a great sled!

if your going to buy polaris, look up darrell farley who owns thomas motors in melfort, he's a friends uncle, best deal i could find. had to drive, but i saved thousands from what i would pay here or states on my fusion 900. when i went to pick uo the two i got, he had a hole bunch of rmk 900 in his compound. i was going to get one but i already have a summit and wanted a short track for around edmonton and for the wife to drive, that way she cant come to the mountains with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as far as adds, i put a can on it, haven't ridden it since i did it, but the stock can is heavy as heck, and made it very difficult to check the chaincase oil. the can is way lighter, and sounds cool!!!

I was talking to another guy last night, he said 900's didn't come with 159 tracks.

I have a good friend selling his 05 Carls Cycle 975 that was built by the polaris R+D team. We used to guide them around Revy and he got to know them very well. This thing honks, runs on 1/3 race fuel and thats the only reason I have not picked it up as a I just plain ride too much to deal with race fuel.

He's asking 6 grand. Pm me if your interested and I will forward his contact info.

I have owned an 05 900 since new, all of the factory updates have been done, the sled has approx 1800 miles on it 80% mountain riding. In my opinion the belt issues seem to be highly exaggerated, I have yet to blow one up, not to say I haven't had to put a few new ones in prior to one grenading. The mods I have done are a different airbox, SLP makes one, Timbersled, and Fire n' Ice also have one,(these are usually around $300) mine was made by Van amburg the same place that builds tunnels, but not sure if they still do as I bought it when the 900s first came out. They do run really warm so would recommend venting, 2Cool airvents make quality sidevent panels very easy to install (around $120US), Rory at motorsports addiction also sells a different version but a very similar design, SLP and Fire n' Ice also make a whole bunch of other vents for these sleds. Would also recommend ice scratchers, in my opinion if you ride early or late in the season they are a must on any sled, but really help to cool off the 900. The only other thing that I have done is some clutch work, this isn't really a must, but sure helps wake the sled up. I have been really happy with the 900, if you can get good deal on one and aren't scared to put $500-$1000 and some time in I think you'll be happy.

Thanx guys. He isn't interested in getting into mixing race fuel Curtis; but I bet that sled is a screamer.

hey guys, well my dad owns a 05 9oo RMK. honestly to spite what everyone one says its a killer. i own a 02 800 RMK and its an amazing sled, its faster than the 900 but i've also done the pistons and reids. and a few other goodies. But i think as a $300 exhaust upgrade, the MBRP can is an excellent deal. it makes that sled sound incredable, nice rumble at idle and supreme pitch at high RPM's. also a riser is a must have.. my dad is looking to maybe sell his 900, there's barley any Km's on it and has only been ridin' 2 seasons about 15 times.... we're in alberta so if you have any questions message me.
