850 Clutching and Gearing

Looking through my owners manual I think there might be errors.

There is no 2.6" track specs shown and this clearly show 3" specs.

The gearing shows 22:43 with a 69 pitch chain.

This is 1.95:1 gearing before considering the 7 tooth drivers or 2.12:1 with the 7 tooth.

This is what the Quickdrive runs so i expect it should read 20:50 like previous years??

Anyone check this for sure?

If it is correct we will be seeing a lot of gearing down being done.

Another interesting things is the change to 42 degree helix.

i haven’t seen mine yet, but do they have 7 tooth driver. If so that ratio would reduce. That seems to be good ratio to start with.

Yes they have the 7 tooth, for stock gearing they got it pretty close out of the box this time.

has anyone had any problems with the clutches on the 850 a buddy had 3 hours on his and the vibration was really bad took it in and they sent clutch back to Polaris just wondering I haven't rode mine yet going next weekend but I hope its not an issue on a lot of them

Chris did you have your chaincase open to verify these gears? I have the new sled at home and the Manuel is saying 22/43.

My clutch belt came too loose and there was a nasty vibration from slippage. Set deflection and all was good. Very little belt dust after riding 3 days. 2 850 x 174 side by side and the one converted to belt drive (same gearing) clearly had much more zip than the chain model.

With the belt deflection, is it same as the pros, and all the other polaris clutchs.... Adjust the height so the bottom of the groves is flush with the secondary?

Setting deflection is the same procedure for all sleds.
Lift back of sled so track is off the ground. Adjust deflection so that the track is almost turning at idle. When idling on the stand, you should be able to turn the track easy with a two finger pull but it shouldn't do it on its own.
The bottom of the groove method is something Doo put out and it gets you close but it is not the correct way to set deflection. Now half the sled world does it like this. Doo ruined some potential future clutchers.
