Anyone on here running a 809 triple in there rev chassis?. I buddy of mine is thinking about doing it to his 05 rev. Since theres no DPM on those motors what could he resort to in that case?

Putting a triple in a rev is spendy to do it right. Might be cheaper to buy one from out east with a triple installed already and longtrack it.
The newest pipes from Jaws might be okay but all the previous tries were down 15-20 HP because of the tight fit in the chassis.

I use a Jack Harris style powerjet, jet for altitude and use the PJ's to tweak it down low or on a cold day.
Last time I talked with Ralph at SS he mentioned that he might know someone who is selling a kit.

yeah he's got a buddy that lives out east looking for a cheap 809 for him. The new jaws pipes fit good and you don't have that big power loss like you said a guy up here has a rev with a 809 in it and the new pipes made a big difference on the dyno.

dyno means d!ck chit, the real test is how it performs at alt. and in 3 feet of powder going of a slop under intense load...js

To a point that's true. If you take a motor that makes 195 HP with Jaws big volume pipes and you put the same motor on the same dyno with Rev pipes and it only makes 170ish that's a pretty good indication your pipes suck.
A good dyno with a good operator will tell you tons before it ever hits the snow.

there was one on kijiji all winter offand on last year. looks really sick but not sure how it worked. the guy claimed over 60g in reciets to buy and build.but only rode three times in two years in the mountains. was selling for 6800 i think it was. preety big loss for a unit he barely rode. might not of been very good if he was selling so cheap.

Neils power pipes in edmonton makes some good pipes for the triple in rev chasis. I've built a couple of them, they work alright. If it's just an 809 it wont be alot better than an 800 twin but if you do a big bore on the 809 then they work very well..

A big bore triple would be nice but a properly built 809 with good gas will make near 200HP.

I know that Ralf is getting real close to 200hp out of those 809's with not a ton of motor work done to them we have a asphalt sled with a 809 done by ralf in it and with the stock ignition which has a retard at 9000rpm i believe it made 196hp this was with the big volume jaws "trail" pipes though and not the rev pipes.

I have one of SS 809's also in an S chassis. I run the Hi Alt pipes, not sure what it makes with those pipes but with the high volume pipes it made 197 with the '97 ignition at around 9300.
What's the timing at on your ashphalt sled? I know mine is set up fairly retarded compared to others but I haven't played with it all, I don't want to come home on a rope.

We swapped out the old ignition for an MSD and it's set at 25 degrees at 4000rpm and retards from there down to 16 degrees at 9100rpm

With new custom CPI pipe I'd need $7500.... also have ceramic crankshop 1000cc pipes...

I'll try to get new pics... had a bunch of computer crashes and lost them...
