I just got this by email and thought it was worth forwarding on. Also, a young girl outside of Kelowna avoided an abduction when a guy was laying down on the side of a remote road. She slowly drove by and was going to the nearest gas station to call 911. As she was driving by she notice a another guy hiding in the ditch. You can just imagine what would have happened. So many crazy people out there with bad intentions and all they are looking for is a vulnerable girl. I have 3 daughters and I cant imagine something like this ever happening!
#77 on your cell phone
You may already know of the following information, but if you are
seeing this for the first time it's worth the read.
For Canadians living in Canada , this may be useful information to remember.
This story takes place over the Christmas/New Year's holiday break.
It was about 1 PM in the afternoon, the Saturday before New Year.
Nineteen year old College student, Lauren, was driving to visit a
friend. An UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put his
lights on.
Lauren's parents have four children (high school and college age)
and, had very emphatically instructed their children, never pull over
for an unmarked car to the side of the road. But, rather wait until
they get a gas station, etc. So Lauren had actually listened to her
parents advice, and promptly called #77 on her cell phone to tell the
police dispatcher she would not pull over right away.
In speaking with the dispatcher, Lauren said an unmarked police car
behind her was flashing the red light on his rooftop.
The dispatcher checked to see if any police cars were patrolling her
area. NONE! The dispatcher said to keep driving and remain calm as
back up was on the way.
NEVER pull over for an unmarked car. Apparently police have to
respect your right to keep going to a 'safe' place. You obviously
need to make some signal of acknowledgment (I.e. put on your hazard
lights) or call #77 like Lauren did. Too bad the cell phone companies
are silent about this little bit of wonderful information.
Ten minutes later four cop cars surrounded Lauren and the unmarked
car driving behind her.
One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car
behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the
ground. . . .. The man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.
PS: Late one evening about two years ago a woman just off #1 Highway,
east of Calgary , was going home from work (lived on an acreage NE of
Calgary ). She wasn't as fortunate because she was caught and
murdered. Also in light of the recent attacks/assaults in the
Kamloops area - you just never know.
I was not aware of the #77 Cell Phone Feature, but especially for a
woman alone in a car.
So now it's your turn to let your friends know about #77.
Send this to every person you know, it may save their life. Pass this on
