509 app for Android phone doesn't work. It isn't even available, so I phoned talked with a representative and they said it's available for apple phones but right now it isn't available for Android and they said they are working on the issue should be fixed soon as they didn't renew it with Google play, well it's been a couple of weeks still not available what a bunch of B's think they would be more prepared and ready to renew the app.

that’s crazy and reason enough to not purchase those.
the design team needs to rethink that approach.
It's not ideal

Most settings are useable without the app, but certain configuration is only possible with the app.

Leave it to Polaris...

The new 509 heated goggles suck. The batteries fall out of the case and the controls suck and they don’t work near as good as the older ones. I’m switching to tempest. Way better system. A couple buddies have them and they work so good.

What a crock, I was told the opposite on Monday when I called, they said android works but iPhone doesn’. Now they want Vids of the leds switching in manual mode when I told the its impossible to use the goggles in manual mode without the app.

I want the tempest, but they are telling me they wont fit over glasses. I would like to try them, but don’t want to order until I can do a test fit.

i'd be surprised if tempest isn't forcing other manufacturers to follow suit in the future, it's that much smarter and better of a design.
@caper, i don't wear glasses so i tried fitting a pair of sunglasses with smaller lenses just to see and they wouldn't fit but there are multiple online companies that make inserts for goggles.

The battery not dangling looks very attractive to me.

The biggest feature I love about my 509 x7 is the magnetic lenses. So easy to pop them out and a quick wave in the air to clear the fog most of the time when I do something stupid like keep my helmet on while helping someone get unstuck. Or a quick wipe inside and out with a cloth when they inadvertently get covered in snow. I haven't turned mine on yet this season because of that feature alone. In fact, the batteries are in my glovebox to save weight on my neck.

I see tempest has a similar system.

Ahh, so it's a dual lense design? That turns me off a bit. Seems like a place to get snow where it's unwanted.

fair concern but i can't see how snow would get in. there's a bunch of magnets plus there's both a lip and tabs on the lens that interface with another lip on the frame and holes for the tabs, it's not just two a flat surfaces.
got me thinking though so i did an informal test and placed them in the kitchen sink on the bottom to get the most distance/pressure and ran water over the entire perimeter, no water intrusion so it's prolly safe to say if water's not getting in then snow won't.
for these to work as well as they do they likely had to go this two-lens route but two lenses doesn't make the possibility of snow getting in higher, it's how well the seal is which is true for any manufacturer with removable lenses.
haven't seen this as an issue in any reviews.
