Does anyone else have ****ty paint quality on their new superduty. I have tried warranty claim and wrote a letter to ford with Zero acceptance on the problem. Paint chips super easily. It sees 90% paved roads and 10% gravel. I have never gone over 40 km max on gravel. My buddies and my neighbour tease me about How slow i drive it on gravel I bought this as plans as long term truck but not impressed. Love the rest of the truck ride , power , ect. Fords gatorback mud flap kit with brackets is installed stock tires still (glad I didn’t put duratracs on yet ) but super bad rash in front of the rear wheels I work as a mechanic and have paid attention to ford superduty’s lately specifically patch truck and don’t see same issues Wich tells me there is a problem with this trucks paint

Tried to upload photos but will not accept.

I’m the opposite opinion, I had a 17 and now an 18 drive 20% gravel, 60k per year, paint is fantastic, had a 16 ram 3500 that was garbage paint.

Hey you probably have to resize the picture to get it to upload.

Be nice to see how bad it is.

My neighbor has two aluminum bodied f-350’s and he was showing me all the paint chips in 80k, he was wondering what was going to happen when the aluminum started to corrode. His 1 truck is strictly a patch work truck. 90% gravel and he is starting to have wiring harness issues. Ford voided the warranty on his wiring harness due to it being used off road. I laughed, and asked doesnt it say off road on the side of the box.

The quality of Ford products has dropped big time over the last years .
I was a Ford freak for years and have bounced back and fourth between GMC and Ford over the last 7 years .
Ford is way ahead in cost to operator and repairs by a long shot.
Glass ? Terrible
Plastic ? Terrible
Inside painted parts ? Terrible
Heater cores ? Terrible
Paint ? Terrible
List goes on and on and then when you sell a Ford you take a bigger hit as well .
Will stick with a GM until they clean up there act. Sad
Daughter has a loaded Limited Explorer as well and has been terrible. 58000 kms and has been nothing but problems.
Huge long list of repairs that never ends and continues.
They are selling before warranty runs out as are sick off constant problems.

Like every manufacturer that think they are on top ???
Start cutting quality as ### ‘s are great .
Consumers will bring them back to reality but takes time.

I have an ‘18 SD but with only 11,000 km so far, some gravel. No rash yet but I only picked it up in May. The big test will be this winter. I was worries about rock chips since it’s a Platinum with the power boards. I had the dealer 3M the side of the truck up to that first body line (about 6” up from bottom) just in case. Front to back, hope it works.

I'm getting near 60k on my 17. Two gouges on the top of the hood from rocks but no other chips of note. The topper has a lot of rock chips so I am getting pelted. Truck is silver if that matters and has steps & 3m on the front.

I'm not impressed with the rust spots appearing on the front bumper already. The windshield is hurtin too but that is a crap shoot.

‘17 with 70k. 10% gravel. Minimal rock chips, but have 3m on 18” up hood, wrap around on front fenders, 5” around wheel wells and the whole tailgate. I was told the paint is soft coming out of factory and needs UV and time to harden up.

Did the same with mine. So far so good. Seems like all the manufacturers paint is lousy since they went to the new low VOC robotic paints. Buddy’s GM is terrible. Seems like the darker colours are worse, but maybe that’s just because it’s more noticeable....

Have noticed for some time now that trucks built in Mexico (vin starts with 3) actually seem to have better paint that American/Canadian. We noticed a trend in the gm trucks especially. Ford trucks have literally always had pretty crappy paint. F-series Trucks that are the candy red (RR) are some of the worst. Gm has really cheaped out on color, lots of motteling problems and clear delaminating. Dodge has the best mil thickness and corrosion resistance, but look like they are painted with a fluffy roller.
Pick your poison.

I just bought a new GMC and purposely bought the package WITHOUT the power boards as they offer no protection at all.
