Coming down the trail today from the mountain for the first ride of the year I noticed it would start to bog when I hit the throttle. I noticed if I punch it there is no bog and runs fine, if I lay into the throttle slowly it will bog and almost want to die (and did when I stopped the first time). The second time I stopped it idled weird. When shut it off and start it back up it doesn’t bog at all for a few minutes. 1700km on the sled.

I had similar issues on my first ride too. 16 800 Etec. I had 5/8 tank of old fuel so I’m gonna drain it and try again. I am curious to see what works for you. Hope you get it figured.

I had a 1/4 tank old fuel and 3/4 new fuel, gonna top up with another 3/4 tank of new fuel before the ride tomorrow. If it persists I’ll change my belt and adjust deflection.

Try 1 on the trail up and down

See if it helps

Does the settings of clickers make a differance for idle Tex?????

I thought they were for top end rpm limit. Just curious on this?
Thanks Tex..

I am leaning towards old fuel also...

Clickers only change shift pattern . If engine revs to quick it stutters .
Will do nothing for idle.

Where does it say idle???

Says bogs and dies slowly on the throttle

Do that means past idle

The 16's had some fuel pump issues. Maybe have the pump checked. Filter in the tank could be plugged as well. Seen lots of them.

How do you get to the filter in the tank?
Take the seat off, some of the sub frame and take the tank out.. not all that bad of a job, make sure the pressure regulator is seated correctly, cant recall if it was 15 or 16 they had a bulletin for those.

You could also change out the inline fuel filter if you havent before...

Honestly I would get some more fresh fuel in it before I would tear to much apart.

Okay thanks for this! I’m riding tomorrow and I’m the mountains for one more week so hopefully it’s just fuel!

And Tex isnt wrong about the clickers on the way down, I've been lazy before not turning then down for the ride to the truck and they can cause some weird rpm tendencies.

And certain elevations it causes different fuel maps, because of load and engine acceleration picked up

Causes raves to come in sooner than they should, that's the bog
