Have a 2014 XM with a fuel gauge issue, sending unit is cheap so going to pick one up. Has any one have any tips on installation, do I remove the gas tank or just the oil tank and pull it out. Is there any thing else that causes intermittent readings? It starts up showing some fuel then goes to nothing in a second.
Thanks.

Is that the problem, the sender?
I just assumed they all sucked and tried to fill every day.
Eg. Red empty light would come on and I'd fill it back up with only 20L

My 14 screwed up when under warranty, so I didn't change it myself, but I have a certain feeling that some times it's from getting dyed fuel and it sitting and drying on swipe fingers for sender

If I get dyed fuel I make sure it's clear then next time

So far haven't had issue since I have been doing this

sent while drinking tea's

Remove the tank and it's an easy removal of the pump. There are a couple little tricks, maybe youtube could be your friend. Could be that the pump filter is plugged, not the one above the oil tank, but the one in the tank inside the pump itself. Those pumps aren't cheap. Be careful prying the fuel pump apart, or at least I was careful.
