2014 summit XM 800 died on trail

looking for any suggestions or help. when I went to go down the mountain at the end of the day my aux (SKI DOO) head light was not working... no big deal will fix when I get home, headed down the mountain, noticed that when sled was idling head light was dim, when riding, if I punched the throttle up over 7000rpm the headlight would dim. it did this a few times then the yellow engine light came on, went to stop and check it out, sled died. won't start, feels a little bit harder to pull over than normal. it was pitch black out. got sled towed off mountain. haven't had a chance to really check it out. thinking Magneto/starter. smells like something electrical melted. any suggestions?

Sounds like a stator, not uncommon on that machine.

Had 2 stator bolts brake on mine and the rest came loose. Was he’d to turn over. The sled will run for a bit because of the capacitor on the sled but it is limited at best. Stator is screwed.

Turn it it over by hand, you will hear some weird noises if it’s a stator.

stator on my 14 pos went doo knew they had a problem my 15 is all good up dated stator.
