Hey Folks I just purchased my new 800 etec this month and someone was telling me that the sled only operates at 70 % until 2 full tanks of gas has been burned. Is there any truth to this. Let me know..

According to my BRP tech rep "Kenny G" it takes about 6 hours, the break in chip or so we will call it runs off the "TPS"(throttle position sensor). Ken told me to ride her hard and she'll break in faster.
Some from what I gather, warm the sob up and giver :d

If it's only running at %70 power this thing is going to be a beast!

Ditto...they REALLY stressed the 'warm up'...I always did before, but its funny it even has a message on the speedo that flashes...

cant wait, mine shows up tomorrow night ! I really have not even looked at it yet...lol Traded in the 2010 xrs (amazing sled from Alpine Country) for the Martin Msp 2011 163x. First year on the 163 as well = stoked

I had the option of course but chickened out and stuck with the 154...I have a lot of learning to do before I will outride a 154 LOL...

I wish mine hadnt come in so early, its driving me nuts sittin in the garage. Going out Sat and Sun to a farm, gonna break it in here till we get more snow.

Have a great trip, be safe, have fun, and we want all kinds of updates on the sled when ya get back!

Will do! Going for 3 days of riding and have already run half a tank of gas around here so she should be broken in by Sunday for sure! More to follow.

Stupid iPod always trying to correct stuff. Wish my thumbs werent so big.

First day of riding. rode to Boulder from Peaks Lodge where we are staying. All I can say is..... WOW! This sled is amazing! I love how easy the throttle is, and the power is noticeably more than my old 07. Didn't get to any bowls today, but hopefully tomorrow we will find some hills and compare how she does against my buddies 08 800 163 XP. Have just over 90km on it now, and love the way it handles. :d:d:beer::beer:

I purchased the same sled with the 163 , first 163 for me , I have put 150 KM on it ditch banging around sylvan lake just about 2 tanks of fuel, I alway seem to notice an increase in power later on in the day maybe cooler temps but in any case this thing either broke in on my last ride or it is going to be insain because it definatly had a power increase and would easily beat my previous sled a 2006 summit 1000 /151, I have heard different stories some saying the power increase will be gradual some say instantly anyone know forsure , going to revy on friday, how was the snow when you were there.

I think it's pretty much instant. I was riding down the trail when it got it's full power, and I noticed right away.
Rode boulder all weekend and the snow was good. No base really though. And unless it snows more all the hills are pretty well tracked up.

the latest issue of snow tech is now claiming up to 120 liters of fuel needs to pass through this engine for break in , have about 500 km on mine used about 120 liters and it just seems to keep getting better on fuel, oil , and power, this sled and engine work great.
