Hello all Craig from viking ab wondering if anyone has had some runs on their new 800 high output motors from arctic cat. Just curious as to mileage on the premium fuel after your break in period. Also did all the new engines come with stock m1000 cans?

snow prayers will be answered:rant:

Ran mine for 29 odd miles. Loads of power. No word on mileage yet, not that I really care that much anyway. Yes they come stock with the huge 22 lb can... lol.

the 09 m8 to the 10 m8 is like comparing the m1 - m8 -09 and prior....
m1 is a little stronger on the top end... the new m8 is achieving 160 plus horse which is equivalent to that of an m1000 (all yrs) this has been done by several enhancements, dropping a lot of rotating weight_(mass) off the crank, comes with improved y pipe, and tuned exhaust pipe,- alas it does have the m1000 stock silencer,

an m1000 performance silencer (we prefer mbrp) will fit on with out too much trouble, Speedwerkx s has a new y pipe coming out that gives 3-5 hp.
and tuneable pipe also in the works....

all n all the new m8 will be stronger machine with more bottom end torque and enough power to keep you happy........ of course we all know u dont have to add any performance parts to a sled like this as 162 ish ponies on stock 800 is enough right?..........well for a while....lol

ride on boys.....ride on....

I rode the 2010 M8 at Mcbride with Terry's group. I was really impressed with the power, and throttle response. Terry and I did race the M1000 against the M8 both 2010's and they were very close. we switched up machines to eliminate the response time of the rides from the equation. The M8 consistently pulled out of the hole faster, the the M1000 would quickly chase it down and out run it.

And as Mur said the M100 MBRP can bolts right up. Terry didn't mention that there were two 2010 M8 on the ride. one had the M1000 MBRP can and the other box stock, and in my opinion the one with the MBRP can pulled much harder.

In my opinion I think the 2010 M8 is a great sled. I don't think that aftermarket folks will find any more ponies out of this bad boy. The MBRP can is most likely the best improvement one can make but I don't know if there are any HP gains, although in the test we ran with T&T it did seam to pull harder.

That being said it is still a new engine. Lets give it a year and she how she purrs and what the aftermarket boy come up with. .

MUCH more throttle response in the 2010 in my opinion. And mine isn't even broken in yet. I've ridden an '08 and an '09 and there's no comparison on the bottom end. Almost got thrown off the back of mine when I loaded it up from the dealer!

all m 1 silencers will fit as we used the mbrp one, and all silencers are made to fit the stock application..... so any can from an m1 is going fit the new m8, the exhaust guys may come out with one thats specific, but as of yet i think only speed works has one listed, and there on order, ps dropping the stock silencer loses u 21 lbs....

MBRP has one out, as well as Jaws. As far as losing 21 lbs, that's not true. The stock one weighs 22 lbs. MBRP weighs around 4-5 lbs. I'm also getting a can made by Neils Power Pipes in Edmonton.

You'll have to let us know how the can works for you. It's always nice to spend locally.
