Sorry to say that due to a lack of snow to build a decent track we have had to cancel the 2010 Drag Races. We don't have the infrastructure of the Olympics and Cypress and we don't have an over abundance of clean snow to haul.

The track, as we speak, is not safe and in our opinion there is not a feasible way to build the track safely this year.

Sorry guys and gals but Mother Nature is in control. ferniesnow on behalf of the Fernie Snowmobile Association.

That's too bad Ferniesnow.

What can you do when the snow doesn't fall? Not too much.

So does that basically sum up all of the riding in and around Fernie/Crowsnest? Or is there still good riding to be done in places?

The above was a quote from DooTalk and I thought I should address the issue here also.

I was going to address that issue with the cancellation notice and decided not to send too many messages at once.

At elevation, the snow is decent and the trails getting there are great (baby butt smooth). We are grooming again on Friday night for this coming weekend and will continue or twice weekly grooming.

I pirated a couple pictures from "arcticdodge" at https://www.snowandmud.com/forum/f8/sleddin-cnp-fernie-27782.html You can open the link and read what he thinks of the snow.

Fernie is still open for business. The trails and the snow up high is low for this time of year but decent. Still a lot of fun to be had!

that sucks on fernie, no chance even if it dumps a bunch between now and then, as far as i know the cnp drags are still on, i am on call this week so wont make those ones. hopefully the plus 10 temps dont put a stop to those ones as well.

With the Fernie Drags, it was a 'logistics' problem; ordering trophies, booking rooms, equipment, etc. Just can't doo it at the last moment. Had to be done when we did it.

Sorry guys, but we need at least 3' of snow to build a safe track with runout and with the weather forecasts that isn't about to happen.

As I said earlier or in another post, the riding is still decent at elevation and we will continue to groom so that our trails will be the best in the SE.
