hey all, I have read a pile about these and there is a very good thread on an older model with the LONG bolt that comes out the brake side but i'm still unclear on how to:

a) remove the DD for bearing inspection, and
b) remove drivers to install new track.

I put a long extension in the brake side with a 5/8" socket and turned the bolt about 1 turn (it was tight) then it started popping so I stopped.

I also removed 7 nylon nuts from the DD (after removing the secondary). Before I start prying on the DD is there anything I forgot? I assume I have to get that bolt out of the Brake side but want to make sure I didn't wreck it.

reverse thread? special tool?

Thanks!

checking the bearing already? i guess it cant hurt i did mine at 3000 miles but it ws failing at that point, so secondary is off, brake rotor off? and that bolt your talking about has to come out it will make some loud scary sounds or at least mine did, once this is done the jackshaft and drivers should juust slide out, and the the dd should just slide off as well the bolt your talking about is holding it all togeather..........just my 2 cents

Thanks Woody,

It was the "loud and crazy sounds" that concerned me. Rotor isn't off, the ratchet etension went right in. I'll get that bolt out and keep going.

Sled has 1200miles and I'm putting a longer track on so I might as well open it up, change the oil and give the bearings a look-see. I might just put new 6203 bearing in unless there are some 4203 around town.

I haven't decided yet what I'll do about extending the tunnel. I'm going 153 to 162. I would like to so something aftermarket if not too expensive, just to look a litle different.

DD came off ok and all looks good inside.
