I have a 2005 brute force 750 I bought recently and was told it needed a 4wd actuator. When you start the bike and look at the display the screen flashes 2wd-4wd every 1 second. I read on another forum that this code was for the engine brake actuator. Is this correct? When I lifted the bike to see if my 4wd worked it was inop so I figured it needs both possibly. Help?! Thanks

Take the fuse out for the RNC under the seat. Turn the key on and off. Put the fuse back in ( make sure its not blown ).

Also check for power in the fuse box.

There is a connector on top of the gas tank that jumpers wires that rotts off and causes power problems

good old kawaski. first off its most likly your actuator box under your seat thats failing, its a size of a cigarette box with a single plug. but i can give you a few hints on your 2wd 4wd system if you ever have problems with it again. biggest thing is to make sure you got power to your enigine brake on your clutch cover if you dont it screws everything up. wash under your seat! keep the mud out from under your fuse box, they are famous for rotting off. this will give you all kinds of troubles no 4wd no fan no hi beams. also if you havent done this you should, pull the plastic shroud from under your seat that holds all your electronics and find the wire harness. follow it to back to where it rest on top of your fuel tank. feel for a lump and cut the wire loom. there will be a single clear plug here. cut the plug off! soder and and shrink tube all the same color wires togther. should be a bunch of blacks and a bunch of whites. one other thing, kawasaki needs to sense wheel speed to be able to switch 2wd 4wd vise versa, so never over look the speed sensor : )
