i'm looking at this quad, its modded a bit, 2 inch lift, muzzy pipe, clutches have been tinkered with, and it has 28 inch mud bugs. i know the owner fairly well, the quad hasn't been abused, he just bought a can am mr instead. quad has 4000km and he (of course) swears its good quad. the mods were done around 3000km. when i asked him what he wants he just said "around 5000". what do you guys figure? i was thinking more like 4000 - 4300.

Jeez, even $4000 seems steeps for an 8 year old quad with 4k on it. If it's really clean, and won't need a bunch of $$ dumped into it, I think I'd try to get him down a bit more. There's a ton of Brutes on Kijiji for descent $$.

I have 3100 km on my 06 and love it. I'm do ride it pretty nice because i use it for work quite often but I have "used" it and never had a problem with it.

getting a quad that you know is good for $4000 is cheap price to pay, sure you can find cheaper on kijiji but you really only know what the seller is telling you about the quad and there are a lot of misleading sellers out there trust me, I have been bent over and I'm still paying, good luck and see you in the next mud hole, cheers.

The thing is sometimes it doesn't necessarily have problems that are due to use, rather age. my 06 kawi has 8000km, and its starting to show. clutches are fairly worn, axel seals are starting to leak, starting to burn some oil etc. 5g is pretty steap, in any case. most likely it will need a set of brakes and a valve adjustment, maybe a belt, but who knows. that being said if you have seen the way its been treated, then you would know best and if you bought it and something major happened, you would know it was just the luck of the draw and not a set up.

i pretty much have to agree with you guys, its a steep price, but i would probably pay a bit more than its worth just because i do know the quad. that being said, it could still crap the bed tomorrow and then i'm left with an 8 year old hunk of junk.

what year did they stop making the kvf?

Up till 2004 it was called a prairie 700 and in 2005 they switched to brute force 750

I have an 06, and I don't treat it nicely, it is modded and has been bulit proof, I ride with every other make and they always have problem before I do. The only thing I don't like is the solid rear axle but that's just because of the mud, it drags.
