Looking for some advise. Just got her out of storage and doesn't want to idle seems ok when the rpms or up and it also is back firing. Ran great last year but it did back fire a couple of times on me.
Hi
1 Is there NEW fuel in it
2 Is there a dry plug and a wet plug, if the there is a plug that's firing and one that is not, when the raw fuel goes into the exh. manifold it could be ignited by the hot gases and cause the fire in the manifold or your pipe.and you get the backfire.
3 If you didn't put stabile in the fuel last spring the old gas could varnish and have plugged the low speed jet just enough to cause problems.
4 If you have ever dropped one of those spark plugs in the machine, you could have cracked the porcelain and you will cause a big headache, so change to new plugs.
5 Check compression by pulling it over slowly, you should feel every stroke, if not use a comp. gauge and check the numbers.
1. filled the tank full and used stabilize last spring.
2. haven't changed the plugs yet
3. On plug did look a little wet
4. Thanks for the fed back. I love this forum, sounds like you guys have great snow and lots to chat about..
5. my plans tomorrow are to clean the carbs and new plugs.
If im not mistaken that unit has carbs. The non idle and backfire will be the result of the pilot circuit being plugged up. Pull your carbs and give them a good clean out.
Well there is a product out there called Sea Foam. Dump one can in your tank before you go to bed and next morning fire her up. Sea Foam is a fuel stabalizer, fuel conditioner and is good for all two and four strokes out there. The chemical will work its way to the carbs. It may not clean everything but you should see an improvement. You can get Sea foam at your local jobber store(Bumper to Bumper, napa CTR). If you cant find it let me know.
